For over 30 years various iterations of the 305 were found in Chevy cars, trucks, and vans.
The 305 is considered the “little brother” to the Chevy 350, even using a crankshaft with the same casting number as the 350 but balanced for the engine’s lighter weight.
The LG3 was the first 305, introduced in 1976. From 1976-1978, it came equipped with a 2GC carburetor. In 1979, that carburetor was replaced with a two-barrel, dual-jet carburetor.
The LG4 was introduced in 1978. It was very similar to the LG3, except it includes a four-barrel carburetor and larger valves. It had a long production run, with later models boasting better efficiency, more power, and more reliability.
