In the 1980s, Ford began slowly rolling out fuel injection systems on the 302s, first starting with the Lincoln Continental. In 1983, it became standard on all non-Mustang motors.
During this period, Ford also released the 5.0 H.O (High output), used in the Fox Body Mustangs from the era. Manual transmissions still included a carburetor until roughly 1985, where these models began to include sequential fuel injection systems.
