In 1987, Chevy/GM passenger cars could come equipped with one of two 350 TBI engines:
Corvettes, as well as some premium models of Camaro and Pontiac Firebirds, included an L98, converted to TBI and with a roller cam.
Other passenger vehicles, like the Caprice and Caprice Wagon, had a variation of the L05 that included a roller cam. These models were manufactured later in the engine’s run, from roughly 1991 until the model was discontinued in 1996.
Prior to the early 90s, the L05 was only found in police cruiser Caprices, but Chevy/GM started including them in a variety of passenger vehicles later in the run, including GM/Buick, Cadillac, and other models.
Two-bolt Chevy 350 TBI are the most common, and they’re approved for all but the most high-powered applications.
Four-bolt Chevy 350 TBIs with a roller cam can be rare, since most four-bolts were found in trucks during the run. They do exist, though, and are perfect for high-power applications over 400 hp.
